What movie in your opinion, was the scariest movie of all time?

When I was a kid, 'The Shining' was the movie that gave me nightmares. Why? The imagery of blood flowing down the hallway, washing away the sofa. Or the hag who arose from the bathtub with the hideous laugh and was trying to touch you.

Here's what 5,603 YM.com readers said: 53% The Ring [was it that scary?] 23% The Exorcist [it makes me laugh now, with the little girl puking and all] 16% Scream 8% Dawn of the Dead

YM readers never saw The Flesh Eaters when they were eight years old.

Mine is scary movie! I know its not that scary but i loved it! Espeacially when Buffy 's her head sliced off and she's still talking! I'm not a Buffy hater, in fact I think she's the coolest, but THAT was brilliant! My 2nd favourite is Scream. Now that was damn scary!!

No wait scratch that. Nightmare On Elm Street is my 2nd favourite! That was damn scary! Dude, that scared the livin' crap outta me! That Freddy sure can scare! I was shakin' in my sexy high heeled bootz! Scream was kinda unrealistic but oh,well.

This is sort of sad but when I was little I was freaked out by Cujo, because our neighbours had a dog that looked like the one in the movie, and trust me that dog was mean and I was terrified that it was going to attack me.
I was also tramatized by Jaws, my family lives on a river and I was too little to understand that sharks usually don't live in fresh water. I was so scared I refused to go anywhere near the river.
AS for my favorite horror movie, I'm not sure if it counts as a horror movie, but I love Silence of the Lambs.
