There also exists an (unofficial) 4th part: Nikos the Impaler. Probably the best.
I only saw part 1 which was awful because of the above mentioned camcorder. You couldn't understand the dialogues but they were apparently very dull.
There's plenty of ultra-low-budget gore (sausages as replacements for intestines...) which shows Schnaas affection to splatter a lá Peter Jackson.
greetings..

The first 2 are crap with no story lines but I must admit the 3rd one is kinda good, not the greatest movie though!

To be fair, Buttgereit's work is in a different league altogether to that of Schnaas and Ittenbach. I can see that the latter two are somewhat interchangeable, but Buttgereit's films are much closer to being 'art house movies' than the all-out, ultra-low-budget gore trash peddled by Messrs S and I.

What you don't think the threesome scene with the corpse in Nekromantic was done in an artsy fashion? Hehehe...
Actually... I don't think his films are art house... The second Nekromantic film I could see as being described like that... the rest of Buttgereit's films

Never saw the second, the first was enough. I've got a poor opinion about 'Art House Films' with big reputations mostly due to the numerious dreadful films classed as such that I've had the misfortune of viewing.
Nekromantic (IMHO) makes a fatal error, It's boring. Make a nice 20 minute short film. Maybe!!!!!!

Totally different approach is taken on the second one... only good thing about it is the last few min. of the film
Then you'll hate the second one...

I think both SCHRAMM, which I love, and DER TODESKING definitely have pretensions towards being art house fare. Buttgereit's films, with the exception of most of NEKROMANTIK II, are on a totally different level to the films of Schnaas and Ittenbach. For a start, neither of those directors' films feature some of the best scores of the last 20 years, or anything like as inventive camerawork, use of narrative structure, not to mention the level of acting. I just wish he'd made more films as SCHRAMM was by far his best work and suggested even better things to come.
