This is one bad puppy I've always wanted to see; it's (bad) reputation preceedes it, somewhat.

So, I was delighted to see that it has been released, on DVD, (with an English language track, too!) in Germany, and you can pick it up for the equivalent of 12 UKP (inclusive of P&P) from Amazon.de:
http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000078K34/ qid=1038600256/sr=2-2/r ef=sr_aps_prod_2_1/028-6775090-6134962

... if you know your way round Amazon. co.uk or .com then it's a fairly easy to get through the checkout (although I was somewhat suspicious of clicking on something called 'abschicken'!).

Enjoy, old friend! This is one trashy movie - and quite enjoyably bad, too!

Got it a couple of weeks ago from Chainsaw. Like yourself, I'd been on the lookout for it for many years, and am pleased to report that it is one of the most cheerfully wrong-headed movies I've seen for ages. It is to the giallo what INCUBO SULLA CITTA CONTAMINATA is to the zombie movie. Sure, it's inadvertently hilarious (we're dropping like flies! let's continue our gay jaunt up the Spanish coast!), but it's not half as bad as its detractors claim. The presentation of this German disc is nice enough too, although its a pity the English language track hasn't had the fantastic treatment the German has had.

The Doc's Disc du Jour. Buy with confidence.

EYEBALL was the eighth giallo that Lenzi made in 6 years and I think it was his worst. Even so, I thought it was very entertaining. The most surprising thing for me was that the killer ended up being one of the more likely of suspects, when there were loads of other red herring suspects - Vietnam vet, sinister looking priest etc. I love the cynicism in Lenzi's gialli. He doesn't always let the viewer leave the film with a feeling that everything is happily resolved. The ending of ORGASMO (not the watered down American version) was very cynical, and so was the climax of KNIFE OF ICE (which Argento's STENDAHL SYNDROME had a very similar ending too). Anyone have the definitive answer to why the original title of EYEBALL translates as RED CATS IN A LABYRINTH OF GLASS? At one stage the killer is referred to being like a 'red cat' but where does the 'Labyrinth of glass' come into it? If they made the ghost-train murder occur at a 'maze of mirrors' it would have made more sense, but as it is I can only assume it is a psychological labyrinth than a physical one.

This film rocks man, it's all about violence to the titular sensory organ. That point is underscored with hot lesbians.
