Agreed. The main gag was worked so hard it was obvious, especially during the dinner scene.

yep -wasn't a bad film by any means and it did at least try to take a different approach to alien invasion -i.e a man in the street eye view -no inside the space ship scenes with the aliens discussing their plans etc,it just didn't really grab me. sixth sense and unbreakable did however.

I have wathced UNBREAKABLE scads more times than TSS. Like SESSION 9, I can watch these films while in the studio doing rendering or tedious stuff, sometimes I just watch them without the sound when working on certain kinds of music.

A bit. (The 'birthday party/alien guy caught on film' scene was probably my favorite part of the film).

Yep, a highlight of the film. Phoenix's reaction is superb, too. I love the loooong buildup of the scene... you know you're going to see something scary, but Shyamalan takes his time...

Personally, I thought 'Signs' was very good. Different from either 'The Sixth Sense' or 'Unbreakable' - for one thing, I think it's a much more family-friendly film, which is normally a curse in my mouth, but not in this case. Touches of humour, too, which were quite appreciated. 'Signs' doesn't deal with its subject quite as elegantly or coherently as 'Unbreakable' does with its theme, but on the other hand I think that 'Signs' is more accessible because of its lighter tone and slightly faster pace. 'The Sixth Sense', of course, is just a really well-crafted 'twist' movie with a lot of atmosphere, but I think Shyamalan's last two films have highlighted it clearly as a real 'debut outing', even though it's not the first film he made. It doesn't quite rech the level of either later film, but it's by no means bad.

Yeah, my preconceptions of Hannibal definitely affected my opinion of it. I was hoping for a good film, and I got a shitty one.
