In Fulci's 'House by the Cemetary', the antagonists name is Dr. Freudstein. This is an obvious throwback to Sigmund Freud, as well as a popular Jewish name. Also throughout the movie, Bob's relationship to his parents displays what possibly could be the result of a fixation with the anal stage of child development. The inclusion of the Jewish name 'stein', though, shows Fulci dabbling with the biological model: one is born into a last name, such as with genetic predispositions. At the end of the movie 'Pieces' (SPOILER), a young man's testicles are clawed off. This is also an obvious reference to Freud's theory of the importance of the phallic stage. What horror movies have obvious references to Sigmund Freud's views of psychology?

It's a pure film, a film of images, that must be received without any reflection.

May just be a coincidence. I think there is sometimes a danger of reading too much into any intended 'significance' in movies.

Really? How exactly? I didn't read anything 'anal' into it.

You're really reading deep psychological implications and meanings into the movie 'Pieces' ??? :-o

in the film pieces a young woman gets into a lift with somebody who has a very obvious chainsaw hidden behind his back. this is an analogy on the aids epidemic -our nations young people are aware there is danger, yet they choose to take the risk, even embrace the danger in search of a thrill. tomorrow -the significance of the 'woman roller skates slowly into a large piece of plate glass for no apparent reason.'

though your path ahead may appear clear,if you allow your attention to wander (as she waves to passers by),you are heading for trouble. especially if you are in crap yet fun spanish films.

IOW, one should never lose sight of one's goals. -Yes?

Actually, how do we know there are not unintentional, but nevertheless accurate, hidden 'deep' meanings in even trashy movies, which are subliminal giveaways to the minds of the peeps involved in the making of the said movies?!
