Had the seriously dubious pleasure of seeing most of Guinypig a few days ago. I've always loved horror films since I was a wee lass, but this was just twisted. It was horrific for all the wrong reasons. Has anyone else seen this... 'film'? I'm a little scared by the fact I didnt have nightmares afterwards. I hope I've not become so jaded that even extreme movies like that have become a little... passé.

my problem with the films is....they are crap! really! I enjoy violent films as much as the next guy,but if I'm honest, what I really want is a good story well told. as part of that framework violence can work fine. but with guinea pig -it was no story, just violence -as if the viewer is supposed to be shocked. problem is,the viewer knows very well it isn't real,so that concern isn't there, and in it's absence, you have no reason to care for the characters and what happens. so it doesn't work on that level either. the films are only of use to people who somehow want to convince themselves that they are a 'hardcore' genuine 100% horror fan -but if anyone actually claims to like or enjoy them,I can only imagine they haven't seen many decent horror films.

I like MERMAID IN A MANHOLE, but then I am obsessed with Japanese underground films, so make of it what you will. I agree that the rest are crap though.

I agree. Mermaid In A Manhole was pretty good. Has anyone read any manga by director Hideshi Hino? His manga are much better, but similar in theme to Mermaid. He writes graphically about madness, death and the obsession of both.

I stopped going to parties of certain friend because he'd always have some piece of shit like this or the Faces of Death garbage on the TV. And there would be 5 or 10 idiots crowded around 'watching' it. Boring slag I saw once just to be a compleatist (And it's films like this that made me abandon that fantasy). Some of the Japanese 'underground' stuff is amusing. There is a cultural connotation that often fascinates me about Japanese 'underground' films while the German and American 'underground' counterparts bore me to tears.

Gore films bore me excepting Fulci & some of the other Italian director's efforts. I pity the person who has so little to do that they would actually seek out this poor excuse for explotation. Not far from those Japanese tapes where some ugly housewife has a mouse crawl up a tube into her bunghole. IMHO

wich one of the Guinea Pig movies have you seen? They are 8 parts in total , including the making off. I suppose the one that disturbed you was Flowers of flesh and blood, right? That's only part 2 of the series You know, when Martin Sheen saw this movie he was convinced all of it was real and called the FBI )?
