Newlywed jailed for torching bride's 'voodoo' house

A Cardiff man set fire his new bride's home and told her he thought there was 'voodoo' in the house.

Adeyemi Dosumu was jailed for two-and-a-half years after admitting reckless arson.

He set the house alight after a row with his now-estranged wife Joanne Mogford.

Prosecutor Meirion Davies told Cardiff Crown Court that the former security worker started the fire after the couple had a row.

His wife was out of the house at the time the fire started. But Dosumu, 43, was spotted driving away from the property with a red petrol can.

The prosecutor said the couple married after meeting in March last year and the incident happened in July.

Mr Davies said that afterwards Dosumu sent his wife a text message saying he would pay for the damage if she didn't press charges. He added: 'PS, I think voodoo is in the house'.

Lee Ingham, defending, said Dosumu knew his wife had gone out of the house and did not believe that there was a danger to anyone.
