Dreamworks The Ring just put me to sleep. There was nothing remotely scary amybe until the end and that just reminded me of Videodrome. Below I was expecting much from. It delivered. It was no horror classic but it was well done despite a few plot holes. I sure hope the japanese version of the Ring is no as boring as the American version of The Ring.

Didn't see the currently-in-release remake, but there are no real scares in the Jap original either. Creepy & spooky in several spots, yes, but for me there hasn't been a genuine scare in horror movies for many many years, if one defines 'scary' (as I do) as I-can't-look!-tell-me-when-it's-over! kinds of chills.

Where did you see it? The Website says it came out on the 11th, but I haven't seen hide nor hair of it here (Seattle).

If you mean where is Below, The movie is / was showing in Dallas, Texas. I saw it Thursday and I haven't checked the papers to see if it still is in town. I definitely recommend the movie although it is not a classic. Twonky was able to generate a lot of scares and tension within a confined set peice( there was a one scence outside the sub), It looked like he had seen Das Boot and uses to good effect.

Yeah, I meant Below. I wonder if it came here and slipped under the radar (or sonar). Guess I 'll have to make due with Ghost Ship...

Maybe you'd like to clarify, else I will assume you're either timid & DO scare easily, or are an inarticulate moron who can't give more than two word responses.

it's an age thing -when i was a little kid countless things scared me shitless including only slightly scary/spooky made for tv movies. the only way i'll ever recapture that feeling is if i get hypnotised into finding films scary.

Well, the last film I saw that literally had me so terrified I was physically unable to look at the screen in certain scenes was Steven Spielberg's TV movie 'Something Evil' back in 1972 when I was 12, so you're probably right. The last 5 minutes of 'Blair Witch Project' first time I watched it was able to sustain a constant tension, fear, extreme feeling of creepiness for the complete duration of those 5 minutes. Quite a feat for a horror film to do that to me these days.
