MBM present PERE UBU LIVE SCORE TO 'IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE' IN 3D! MON 8 NOV - The Arches, Glasgow. 8pm, tickets in adv £16 / £14

Pere Ubu improvise a live soundtrack to Jack Arnold's cult 'It Came from Outer Space' - the original 1953 desert sci-fi movie is red/green anaglyphic 3D steresocopic 1972 duocolour 35mm print, is the last complete unfaded working example thought to exist in any of the film archives of the world - this will be its final ever screening. www.ubuprojex.net/

'Pere Ubu burst upon the scene in 1975 and changed the face of music. For over 27 years they've defined the art of cult; refined the voice of the outsider; and influenced the likes of Joy Division, Pixies, Husker Du, Henry Rollins, REM, the Sisters of Mercy, Thomas Dolby, Bauhaus, Julian Cope and countless others.'

Oh my! I bought the US release just last week, (sans Pere Ubu, of course).

Seeing as how I fly back from me hols on the 3rd, I *know* what I'll be doing on the 8th!!!

All I need now is someone to organise a cinema showing of The Tingler - first film to scare the shit out of me. (I got the US 40th Anniversary DVD last month and found it still does the trick).

Ehhh...my interest doesn't stretch much further than the first few albums. Peter Laughner wrote their best songs, and was always the most interesting member of the band. I'm more interested in his solo work than the later Ubu material.

As Gene said, the first couple of Pere Ubu LPs are the best. My own favourite tracks being Non-Alignment Pact, The Modern Dance, Final Solution and On the Surface. I have an excellent box set of theirs called Data Panik in the Year Zero, which contains pretty much all you need. I was also lucky enough to see them live at Newcastle's Riverside club about 15 years ago.

If you do go, be sure to report back here won't you?

Absolutely. I'll cover the whole gruesome affair.

I fly off early Wednesday on holiday, so I've sent my lad to get a couple of tickets...determined to educate the whippersnapper.
