B-sol from the vault of horror titled a recent post - Suspiria Remake May not Suck.
If anything falls into the category of sceptical optimism I would say that title does.
Remakes of horror movies are not always very good (putting it mildly) so I completely understand where b- sol is coming from.
David Gordon Green will be directing the remake and according to b-sol seems to have some genuine respect for the original, which is a good place to start from.

As a somewhat reluctant fan of Suspiria,, I’ve enjoyed following the rumors swirling around this one. On my own site, I addressed the casting of Natalie Portman in the Jessica Harper role, and ultimately concluded that it just doesn’t matter. With Green currently tied to the project, I believe that the film will rely less on casting and writing than on direction. It will certainly be interesting to follow this one as cast and crew are filled out.
I tend to agree with you, but Natalie Portman sounds wonderful…
I always look forward to remakes mainly because I feel it helps the original get some attention from new generations. I must admit though, most of the time it is disappointing in the end because the remake does not seem to do the classic any justice.
